Hair food recipe: 6 natural ingredients to prevent hair loss

Six essential oils,all with healing properties and some with anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties are recommended by dermatologists to promote hair growth and prevent hair loss.

Jojoba, thyme, grapeseed, rosemary, lavender and cedarwood are the six essential ingredients used in dermatologist proven hair growth recipes. Use this six ingredient blend based on a study published in the Archives of Dermatology to massage the scalp, de-stress and prevent hair loss.

(Note, the actual article in the Archives of Dermatology is incredibly difficult to access, but the study is noted in Prevention magazine's July 2013 issue as well as in many archived articles on rosemary and other oils as an essential healing and hair growth ingredient).

6 natural herb and oil recipe for fuller hair:

1/2 tsp jojoba oil
4 tsp grapeseed oil
2 drops thyme oil
3 drops lavender oil
2 drops of cedarwood

Mix jojoba and grapeseed oil in a small bowl. Add thyme, lavender, rosemary and cedarwood. Massage into scalp and rinse in the morning.

Hair loss in women, as studied by Dr. Bahman Guyuron at Case Western Reserve University, results from stress filled life events like divorce. Unhealthy life choices and patterns like smoking, excessive drinking and stressed induced sleep patterns are all likely contributors to hair loss. Women have known for years that stress triggers their hair loss, but it took a medical study to confirm what many women already knew.

The six essential oil recipe for fuller hair listed above, in a medical study, found that "a daily scalp massage using the oils boosted hair growth in 44 percent of patients" (Prevention, July 2013).

Dr. Guyuron noted that stress releases cortisol which "produces waste products around hair follicles" (Prevention, July 2013). Naturally, the chemical and healing properties in the six oils help reduce stress and fight the unhealthy waste products that cortisol creates around the hair follicles.

Often, women who use natural products gravitate toward coconut, olive or almond oils. But Grapeseed Oils are a lot less expensive than either olive or coconut oil and a lot lighter too. Grapeseed moisturizes skin and is the base ingredient in the dermatology study's hair growth recipe.
