10 injured, 1 dead in bizarre accident in Paris suburb

In a story that authorities are still investigating and trying to determine a reason for, 11 people tumbled from a third floor apartment window in a Paris suburb on Saturday. 10 people were injured and a 4-month-old baby died. The circumstances around the incident are still under investigation but the theories are, at the very least, strange. The incident took place in the Paris suburb of La Verriere.

Circumstances a mystery

The baby was found alive among the injured when the authorities arrived. However, hours after the infant was taken to the hospital and declared dead. The other victims were a mixture of adults and children, all of them from African descent. They were all hospitalized with various injuries.

The reasons why the group fell from the window is still a mystery that is puzzling investigators. Whether or not the group simply fell by accident or were forced or pushed out of the window is still also unclear. The building was no on fire, nor had any other emergency, such as a gas leak, been reported in the building.

When investigators first arrived and began asking questions from neighbors and witnesses the first theory was that one of the injured women had begun ranting and raving about having seen the devil. Then, as the investigation continued, a second theory developed that the group jumped from the window when a man entered a room where the others were watching television and took off his clothes.

Two men have been arrested, at this point. One of them is a 30-year-old man who jumped out of the window while holding a 2-year-old. The charges have not been released.
