Bloomingdale, Illinois, mother charged in murder of 4-year-old

The incident in Bloomingdale, Illinois, happened on Wednesday afternoon. Marci Webber, according to police, shot her 4-year-old daughter and then attempted to kill herself. Police initially responded to a domestic disturbance call at around 1:48 p.m. They found Webber in a pool of her own blood and apparently suffering from self-inflicted gunshot wounds.

Family from out-of-state

Webber and her daughter are from out-of-state and were visiting a grandmother who lives in the Bloomingdale area. Webber was in the middle of a battle for custody for her daughter. According to police, there was also a history of abuse in the home.

When police entered the home they found Webber injured. They rushed her to Glen Oaks Medical Center where she was treated. The police then began exploring the rest of the home and came across the body of her 4-year-old daughter. The girl was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

Not long after the police formally charged Webber with the murder of her daughter. They released a statement that the incident appeared to be a murder-suicide attempt. Webber is due in court for the first time on Sunday.
