Police in California are still looking for the driver of gold Honda Civic that they believe may have been partially responsible for a horrific traffic pile up near San Diego. The accident involved up to a dozen motorcycles and left five people dead. However, the Civic left the scene and police want to find the driver.

Reportedly the accident took place Saturday afternoon on the El Centro highway, near San Diego. The highway is a two-lane highway and the Civic was trying to pass a group of 12 motorcycles. However, to do so, the Civic had to cross into oncoming traffic. That’s when things went horribly wrong.

Crashed head on

The Civic managed to pass the motorcycles and return to his lane. However, a Dodge vehicle swerved out of the way to avoid the Civic and collided head on into the group of motorcycles. The accident left a trail of twisted and broken vehicles, metal and bodies.

Four of the motorcyclists were reported dead at the scene. A passenger in the Dodge was also declared dead at the scene. The injured were taken to local hospitals and reported in serious condition. The Civic, however, fled the scene.

The bikers were part of a motorcycle group known as the Saddle Tramps Motorcycle Club. They were on a regular ride on their Harley Davidsons as part of a 10th anniversary celebration.

The policed are now looking for a gold Honda Civic that they believe is a 1885-2000 year model. They say that they would like to speak to the driver.

The driver of the Dodge vehicle is believed to have been driving while intoxicated. The authorities, however, are saying that they are not holding him as responsible for the wreck.
