Authorities in Utah have announced that a plane at the Salt Lake City airport was evacuated after the airport received a bomb threat Thursday morning. The passenger plane was about to head to Helena, Montana, when the threat came in and the passengers were evacuated.

The plane was a SkyWest plane. It carried only 46 passengers and three crew members on the morning flight to Helena. The threat was, according to authorities, “called in” to the airport just before the plane left the terminal to take off.

FBI called

Authorities stated that the passengers and crew would be interviewed before they would be allowed to leave or make other arrangements for a flight. The aircraft was also being inspected by police and security officials. Reports are that the FBI has been called to the scene to help with the investigation.

According to a statement to the media, airport officials said that they were still unsure if there was any kind of device or suspicious package on the plane. However, they stated that the caller was threatening and said that an “incendiary device” was located on board. Once that happened the airport implemented their bomb threat protocols, evacuated the plane, alerted the FBI and began searching the plane.
