Lizard Lick Towing Team Fighting About Role Of Cousin Johnny

Lizard Lick Towing hits an internal road bump when Cousin Johnny infiltrates the close-knit group.

There is nothing that can get a family out of whack faster than a relative just released from prison, as the Lizard Lick Towing gang is finding out this week.

Ron’s cousin, Johnny, walked into the North Carolina Lizard Lick Towing office last week, fresh from doing time.

Ronnie’s wife, Amy, and his right-hand man, Bobby, were not happy, to say the least.

“I’ll bet he’s going out there and asking him for money,” Bobby said when Ron, excited to see his cousin, stepped outside to talk with him.

“I’ll bet he is, too,” Amy agreed.

And, pretty much, they were right.

“I need a job, I need a place to stay,” he poor-mouthed to Ron. “I ain’t got a dime to my name.”

Ron wouldn’t make him any promises, but it was clear to see where it was going as he told his wife, “Amy, he’s family. He needs help.”

This week, things kept down that same reality television path, when Bobby hurt his back, and Ron decided that Johnny would be the perfect extra set of hands.

Of course, when Amy saw Cousin Johnny drinking from a flask behind the shop before going on the run it didn’t bode well for his working out too well, but there was no movement made on that this week.

Maybe down the line.

Whether or not Amy told her husband about what she saw was unclear, but, regardless, Ron decided he was giving his cousin a chance, whatever Amy and Bobby thought. As he told Bobby:

“Here’s the bottom line: Johnny’s family. And he’s gonna be around here.

‘Til he gets on his feet and he finds somewhere to live and he’s got enough money where I know he ain’t gonna starve to death, Bobby, he’s gonna be around.”

It is not surprising that Ron wants to give his cousin another chance; Ron is an ordained minister, and he even helps out some of the people from whom they repo cars. So, helping out a down-and-out cousin doesn’t seem surprising.

Cousin Johnny Joins Lizard Lick Towing

“He just wants to be given a chance,” he told his work team, “which means y’all will give him a chance.”

While Johnny smiled smugly, everybody else looked on dismayed, particularly Amy, who was obviously furious.

“I have no idea what Ronnie is thinking,” she said in a camera cameo.

“Johnny has been in jail, he’s an ex-convict, and I do not want him around my business or my husband.”

Her statement seemed to go along with an earlier statement Bobby made to Ron in the episode:

“Do I need to remind you about last time he was around?”

“I don’t do that kind of stuff anymore, Bobby,” Ron said. “I’ve changed.”

Interesting tease.

Will Johnny be a negative influence on Ron, as both Amy and Bobby seem to fear?

Will the Lizard Lick team be able to withstand the pressures of the unwanted Cousin Johnny coming into their close-knit repo family?

Will Ron’s life at home be unlivable? And, of course, will Maybelle, the laying hen traded to Lizard Lick Towing for a $50 processing fee, be worth her weight in eggs?
