Cheryl Burke hopes to become next 'Bachelorette'

She's known for her steamy dances with men on "Dancing with the Stars," but apparently, Cheryl Burke's love life is far less exciting.

The 28-year-old professional dancer, who has twice brought home the coveted mirror ball trophy on ABC's hit show, is ready to try her hand at another reality program on the television network.

"My dating record hasn't been great the past couple of years so if I have a chance to go on ('The Bachelorette') I will," Burke told People Magazine. "I'm getting old, you know, so it's something of interest to me."

Burke, who comes off as a confident, strong, commanding woman on the dancing show, admits that she is actually quite shy when it comes to romance. She believes "The Bachelorette" would be a great opportunity for her to meet a bunch of eligible bachelors. While some celebrities might be put off by dealing with so many suitors, Burke wants the chance.

"It would be fun to have a pool of guys around you and getting to know someone," she told the magazine.

Burke and her dancing partner from last season, William Levy, formed a steamy couple that exhibited enough chemistry on the dance floor to land in the show's finale. But unfortunately for Burke -- and fans who enjoyed the bond formed by the two dancers -- Levy was taken at the time, married to actress Elizabeth Gutierrez. However, last month, Levy and Gutierrez announced that their eight-year relationship was over. Could that open the door for Burke to strike up a relationship with the Latin heartthrob?

Nevertheless, Burke is starting her public "campaign" for the Bachelorette position. On Friday, she tweeted a link to the People Magazine story, asking for her followers' opinion. The response was overwhelmingly positive.

"DO IT!! You would be the FIRST non idiot ...don't kiss ALL of them! ugh," former DWTS contestant Kirstie Alley tweeted back.

"The Bachelorette" is current in its eighth season. Emily Maynard, a single mom and former "The Bachelor" contestant, is currently sifting through a host of men, hoping to find Mr. Right.

Burke won "Dancing with the Stars" in season two with boy-band member Drew Lachey and season three with NFL Hall of Fame running back Emmitt Smith. She finished second with Rob Kardashian in season 13 before her third place finish with Levy last season.

You could really try it as a new bachelorette. That would be really interesting. Nothing stops you, Cheryl, from your search for true love with someone special and as soul mates. Good luck, Cheryl.

Burke already has a ton of fame and a large fortune. She can find her own guy, That's absurd to put her on. Shameful actually. Let some regular gal try her hand at finding love.

I think Cheryl would be a great bachelorette! I would love to see her on the show. If she is interested then by all means she should be given the chance. She has the personality, the looks and is certainly well know enough to improve the ratings! All the dwts fans would tune in for sure!
