Improper steps are a tripping hazard, and need to be repaired

Short steps, steps of varying height, narrow steps, are all supposed to be repaired when they have outlived their useful life, and here in NY everybody gets the MOST of of such things.

But making steps like this that are too short in height are not allowed, and landings at doorways must be 36 inches, and not less.This low step (see picture) can cause you to trip.

Competent and reliable contractors are also not found easily sometimes, and many people tend to cheap out or who just do not perform work to proper building codes. Luckily, you have a home inspector to alert you to these issues,
