2011 Chrysler 200 Closes Chapter On Lackluster Sebring

Gentlemen, we can rebuild him. We have the technology. So must have the conversations been inside Chrysler design and engineering studios as they decided what to do with the Chrysler Sebring, a car so unloved by critics that some called it worse than its predecessor.

What we have before us today are the first official 2011 Chrysler photos that reveal the entire car. As per Chrysler's latest media strategy there are only exterior shots right now, we won't get interior pics for a few weeks.

2011 Chrysler 200 Looks To Right One Of the Biggest Wrongs At Chrysler

What we can see is a car that takes as much styling from the beautiful Chrysler 200C concept and bakes it into the mold that is the Sebring/Avenger platform. There are some points in car construction that are so difficult to change in a refresh that designers have to leave them, that means that while we have a 200C in spirit, we still get dollop of Sebring.

Overall, the Chrysler 200 is smoother looking sedan. Chrysler will offer both its 2.4-liter I-4 World Gas Engine and the new 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 engine. The four cylinder is mated to either a four (shudder) or six speed auto while the V-6 is six speed only. The suspension has been retuned to offer thanks to stiffened body mounts and softer ride rate along with an improved suspension geometry with a raised roll center, a new rear sway bar, and new tires.

Although we cannot see the interior, Chrysler says it is worlds better with soft touch materials, laminated glass to keep it quiet, improved seat cushions, new leather, a new instrument panel and improved heating and cooling ducts. Given Chrysler's recent efforts with the Ram truck, 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee and 2011 Dodge Durango we have no problem envisioning a beautiful new environment.

For reference, we have uploaded a video of the Chrysler 200C EV Concept so that you can compare and contrast the two models.

The Chrysler 200 should arrive in showrooms later this year.
