Will taking a cross-country trip together be the last straw for some of the Browns tonight on TLCs Sister Wives?

This week, fans of Sister Wives will get to watch as the wives decide that, in the midst of ground-breaking on four new homes, it is time to take a dream trip to Nauvoo, Illinois, the city regarded by some as the birthplace of polygamy in America.

According to the City of Nauvoo website, the city, located in Western Illinois on a bend in the majestic Mississippi River, is one of the most visited cities in the surrounding area. With a population of 1,071, the city is small, covering only 4.8 square miles. “Nauvoo,” the website indicates, means “beautiful city” or “beautiful place” in Hebrew. Previously, however, the city was a Fox Indian village of approximately 400 to 500 lodges. But, the site was relinquished by the Fox in 1824 for a trade of 200 sacks of corn. The Hancock County post office was established six years later, under the city name of “Venus;” in 1834, the name was changed to “Commerce;” finally, in 1839, the name was changed to “Nauvoo,” after members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (LDS) settled the area. Nauvoo was incorporated and received a special charter from the Illinois legislature, the website indicates.

The official “Historic Nauvoo” website gives a better indication of the polygamy history for which the area is known. Information on the “Smith Family Cemetery,” for example, is available, as well as information on the “Joseph and Hyrum Smith Memorial,” and links to other pertinent sites, such as the Joseph Smith Historic Site. However, a direct connection to polygamy, or the history of polygamy in the area, never seems to be mentioned, only alluded to through the connection with Mormon leader Joseph Smith. So, it will be interesting to see how well-received the Browns will be on their trip, considering the pro-polygamy spotlight they now bring with them wherever they go. Will they be graciously welcomed? Or will the city’s officials shy away from such pointed attention being placed on Nauvoo for being the “birthplace of American polygamy?”

Additionally, will the Browns themselves learn more about each other than they ever wanted to know on this trip? According to TLC:

The wives plan a dream pilgrimage across country to Nauvoo Illinois, the birthplace of American polygamy. But the three-day road trip turns into much more than they bargained for as tempers start to flair and relationships get tested.

People need to understand that polygamy is NOT all “sister wives” and “big love” or the Dargers. UT, AZ and other states in fact DO "turn a blind eye" to FLDS polygamy where children (girls as young as 12) are married off to much older men and then live off of welfare, food stamps and Medicaid (known as "bleeding the beast")... as discussed in new book "plygs", a fact based journalistic view at the REAL world of polygamy... Warren Jeffs, the leader of this group (serving a life sentence for child rape) has recently ordered that only 15 men in the group can procreate with ANY of the women of their choice within the group… and just 2 weeks ago from his jail cell in TX he has ordered the businesses on the UT/AZ border be closed, apparently predicted an apocalypse and told his followers to build backpacks and be ready to go at a moments notice. He has banned consumption of oatmeal, corn, turnips and dairy products....This ALL after the findings of his journal about a bed ordered to be specially made for the purpose of sexually assaulting hundreds of young girls were outlined in pages of a diary he referred to as 'priesthood records'. He told his followers the bed must be made of hardwood, sturdy so it wouldn't rattle, long enough to hold his frame and covered with a plastic sheet to 'protect the mattress from what will happen on it'.... now a lot of the families from TX have moved out of the ranch... this means that many young girls are being moved across state lines or even across the border to Canada this is human trafficking for sexual reasons... another federal offence... the government does NOT seem to be doing anything at this time...this group in UT / AZ / TX are nothing but pedophiles and welfare cheats...

I totally understand......WARREN JEFFS IS A SICK, SICK ,SICKO.......Any human being that would treat these young innocent girls like this should never see the light of day again....Then to say this is his belief in God.....Well the 15 men he's chosen to procreate in his place should join him in prison as they are just as sick as he is if thet carry out his orders.....Don't these people have any conscious or self worth.....Someday when they meet the REAL GOD they will be made accountable and hopefully they will get their due along with that dirty old child molester WARREN JEFFS... MAY HE ROT IN HELL....FOR ALL HE'S DONE TO INNOCENT CHILDREN .....IN THE NAME OF "HIS" GOD give us a break he's just a sick OLD molester

BUT Kody's statements ARE in alliance with the Jeffs group mentality... he just needs to choose his words a bit more wisely...

I completely agree. Get real. A man with four wives making him the center of their universe does not get to complain I'm not being obeyed! How utterly disrespectful as a man and I don't care how many wives/cocubines he wishes to add to the fold. As a wife of a great husband, I found it offensive and was very embarrased for them. At least Christine had the guts to call him out on it on national television for the other ladies sake. She seems to be the only voice being honest in this family by saying,"hey! Look at me. I am not being fulfilled here as a wife and I did not sign up to be a single parent! Step up Kody and make it happen!" Amen sister! At least someone is demanding to be treated with dignity here.
